A social connection platform built around intent before interaction.
NudgNudg was created as an alternative to mainstream dating and social apps: endless swiping, fragmented intentions, spam, fake accounts and monetisation that can interrupt the conversation itself.
Instead, the product asks a simpler question first: What kind of connection are you actually in the mood for?
Users choose an intention, enter the corresponding Grid, discover people looking for something compatible and move from a Nudg into conversation.

01 / Origin
Make connection feel less industrial.
NudgNudg began with frustration around how mainstream platforms handled connection. Chats could become part of a transaction. Coins, credits and repeated prompts could sit between two people trying to communicate. Spam, bots, fake profiles and mismatched intentions made the experience feel increasingly mechanical.
The goal was to build something more direct: a platform where people could state what kind of connection they wanted, find others in the same mood and communicate without turning every interaction into another microtransaction.
The product was designed around a simple principle: find your vibe first.
02 / The Problem
Connection becomes harder when intent is hidden.
A single undifferentiated discovery pool asks users to interpret too much after contact has already begun. One person may want conversation; another may want friendship, a relationship, or simply to see where the evening goes.
NudgNudg makes intention part of the system before discovery begins. At the same time, trust matters. Spam, automated behaviour, misleading accounts and scams can destroy the usefulness of a social platform regardless of how good the interface looks.
So the problem was never only discovery. It was: INTENT + TRUST + INTERACTION
03 / The Grid Model
Start with what you want right now.
NudgNudg currently organises discovery around four Grids.
LAB INSTRUMENT / INTENT MODEL
The point is not to permanently classify the user. It is to make the current intention visible before discovery begins.
04 / The Interaction
From intent to conversation without unnecessary friction.
The core product flow is deliberately compact:
CHOOSE A GRID → DISCOVER → NUDG → CHAT → CONNECT
Users browse within the Grids they have chosen and discover people looking for compatible forms of connection. A Nudg provides a simple first move.
Premium also includes the Nudg Game: a more playful way to restart or begin an interaction when a normal message feels awkward. Sometimes the better interaction is simply: play something together and let the conversation restart from there.
05 / Trust by Design
A social product only works when people trust the space.
One of the harder engineering problems in NudgNudg has been reducing spam, fake-account behaviour and automated abuse without turning the product into an exhausting verification exercise.
The system is built around security, reporting and moderation controls, and those controls continue to evolve as abuse patterns and available technology change. NudgNudg’s public rules prohibit false identities, scams, spam, bots, automated messaging and other technical manipulation.
Users can report suspicious or inappropriate behaviour, and moderation measures can include restrictions or suspension. The objective is not to claim that abuse can never occur. It is to treat trust as an active engineering problem.

06 / Cross-Platform Product
One service across different delivery channels.
NudgNudg operates through the web and Android, with iOS currently in development. Building that consistently has required more than recreating the same screens on different devices.
Accounts, plans, access state, payments, product behaviour and security controls need to remain coherent across platform boundaries. Web subscriptions are processed through the web payment flow, while Android subscriptions use Google Play Billing.

07 / Evolution
The difficult part is knowing what not to build.
A major challenge in NudgNudg has been resisting the temptation to put every possible social feature into the product. The system has to stay understandable.
That means continuous research, user feedback and watching how people actually want to interact rather than building features simply because they are technically possible. Nudg Game came from that way of thinking: a small interaction mechanic that can break an awkward silence without requiring another conventional opening message.
The next major interaction model currently being developed is Signals. Signals is intended to create an additional way to connect inside NudgNudg and expand the social possibilities beyond the current discovery and messaging flow.
